Ice, ice baby!

After a wonderful train journey and hike to Spencer Glacier yesterday, it was time for a reality check this morning. It was time for work.

I set off to find the client's location, and before I knew it I was on my way home. Home to my hotel.

I'm not feeling quite at home, to be honest. I'm a nobody here, and they treat me like that. It's hard to get dinner tables, there was no room upgrade, and while some of the other rooms get a newspaper every morning, there's none for me.

The house keeper keeps putting my clothes away and reorganising everything. Has she not realised just yet that I keep my shoes where I'll remember to find them? Seriously, don't move things around!

Anyway, I finished work early enough today, so by 6:15pm I was (once again) asking for a table at the fancy restaurant on the 20th floor. It was a no. Again. I said I'd wait, and in no time at all I suddenly had a table. Guess they had room, they just didn't really want me there...

Dinner was lovely. The view was lovely. The service was not. So much for trying to fit in with the posh people...

Hmmmmmm... Maybe I'll rethink any plans to visit Alaska. Maybe they'll treat you better if you wink at them a lot and throw out a lot of "you betcha".

@ Brian - I know I don't!

@ Roy - As long as you don't aim for the fancy places (well, unless you are a cruise ship tourist), all will be fine. And it's beautiful here!
