Barbabrahe

Remember the Barbapapa Family? They are from my childhood in the 70s - I had the books, watched how these blob-like creatures would shape-shift on TV, and I even had a big Barba toy. I can't quite remember which one was mine - we had two of them in the house. One was the red Barbabadut (Barbabravo in English), while the other one was the blue Barbabrahe (Barbabright in English).

It would make sense to assume that the Blue one was my sister's. He's a scientist and good with numbers and formulas. Had I spent any time hanging out with him I might have learned, but somehow I still seem to remember him best, so when I walked by a shop in Paris this week and saw the entire collection as drink bottles, I just had to get one. And yes, it had to be the blue one.

As a glass bottle, it probably won't chance shape a whole lot, but I was slightly concerned after checking in my suitcase. What if the bottle broke? Would the blue contents of the bottle turn my yellow suitcase green? Thankfully I never had to find out. Barbabrahe made it home in one piece!

@ Brian - not sure if they were ever popular in the English speaking world. My friends here don't seem to know them either. They were French originally...

The blue Barbabrahe is really cute, I remember him fondly and the red Barbabadut as well. Had so much fun with them until they started leaking sand all over the floor.... ups!

Nope, never saw them here in the US. I'll have to check them out on YouTube. I'm glad to hear that your suitcase is still yellow!

@ Yrsa - I believe the sand leaking on the floor was the end of the Barbas. Ah well!

@ Roy - The English speaking world missed out this time for sure!

@ FishHawk - Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoyed the reading.

@ Michelle - The artist was black. A bit messy to look at. He was cute :)
