You can fly, you can fly, you... fell!

It was Friday morning and I was just leaving his place. Nothing too unusual in that. I wanted to get home before traffic picked up as I wanted my own shower. It was party time. Well, just about.

A car was parked right where I normally walk, so I nipped over the step to get to my car. Only the step was slightly smaller than I thought and I stepped down too soon. I stumbled. I thought I could regain my balance, but before I knew it I flew right across the car park and fell down on my knees and hands.

A moment. Two. Could I get up? I tried and managed. I looked down. I was concerned about my new jeans, but the looked OK. I checked my hands and quickly looked away. Little pieces of rock stuck in many places and blood adding to the fun.

My attention turned to my knees. How was it possible that my jeans looked just fine when my knees felt damaged? I had to see this.

I went back inside. I quick look. Shit! The left knee had a minor scrape, but the right was a bloody mess.

Home eventually - it was time to clean the bruises. I did well, or so I thought. I got ready for work, packed my party clothes for the evening and tried to forget the pain. No, it wasn't working. It hurt, it hurt and it hurt some more. I got through the day and had Christmas dinner, but the evening ended early.

Saturday an x-ray was scheduled and I saw a doctor. Initially they thought the knee was fractured, but it turned out "only" to be the ligaments. I'm on painkillers now and didn't find it much fun having to travel to Madison, WI yesterday. 8.5 hours on the plane followed by 2.5 hours of driving, but I made it...
