11

2011 ended and you heard nothing from me. I finally intended to get my act together last night - it was the 11th, I was on the 11th floor and I wanted to blog about 2011... so I waited a day!

As the new year began, I lost the data on how many days I'd been on the road, cities visited, etc. Everything starts over with a new year, I guess. One thing's for sure. I need to spend more time at home... starting soon. And by soon I mean in a few months.

Right now it's Atlanta. I checked in two nights ago and will leave again tomorrow morning. They must have thought me important, so they gave me a room on the 11th floor; the elevator only goes here if you have the right room key, and I do. I did my usual checks when I entered the room, and after flicking through the handbook I realised I wouldn't have to eat breakfast with the "normal" ones. There would be breakfast served in the lounge, and it was free of charge. It also mentioned something about snacks and drinks in the evening, but I quickly forgot about that again.

The lounge is pretty much your standard living room. It's cozy, you can make yourself at home, there are people around to chat to... and then there's the thing that makes it different. You don't have to lift a finger! I'm not sure if I like being waited on, but I gave in and tried to simply enjoy.

After dinner last night I went back to the lounge just to see if they had any of those s'mores cereal bars left. I'd forgotten about the drinks/snacks, but I was quickly reminded, and before I knew it I was chatting away to people while drinking red wine. As I went out for a big lunch today, I skipped dinner tonight and went straight to the lounge!

Tomorrow I'll be heading up to Toronto. New city again, but I'm excited. It feels strangely good to be on the road again :)

Hmmmmm... You must have accrued enough time on the road to earn some good karmic reward. But I can see why you'd like to have more time at home. Have fun in Toronto!
